Retirement

Yesterday, one of Paul's previous co-workers (Tyler) stopped in on his way to BC. I was envious, as I absolutely love BC. We got to talking about retirement. Tyler wants to retire at 35, he's 28 now, hmmm, good luck with that, lol.
Anyway, retirement, that's a long time away for us, but I have often thought I would like to retire in BC. I do have the place picked out that I would love to live, although, I don't think that is going to be in our budget. But, I can dream, right? These are the apartments that Dad used to manage. I loved visiting him there, the area and the view are spectacular, The Flamingo Apartments, yes, this would be my ideal spot to retire.

Both Paul and Tyler thought that the rain would get depressing. I don't know, I have been there several times, it was raining when I was there, and it didn't bother me. However, I have not been there for a period of longer than 3 weeks.
Would the rain be worse than the snow and cold? Would it get depressing? Now this is something to think about - even though I know we likely won't move there, if there is any possibility, I should think about this. How would you know unless you tried it?
Looking at some of these views, I can't imagine that some rain would change my mind. Dad lived there for several years, he never complained. I have a lot of relatives who live there (who moved from here) and I have heard them talk about the rain, but I have never heard them say that they wished they had never moved.
I am going to have to ask about this, now I am curious. I have a hard time believing that views like this everyday, even it is was raining would depress me.

Does anyone have any input? What do you think? Rain or snow?

Dude!!!

Are you a dude? I didn't know I was a "dude" until recently.
Now I know that teenagers use many different expressions, most to which they think that we have no understanding. Chantel happens to be one of those teenagers.
The most popular word in her vocabulary these days is "dude."
I'm a dude, Paul's a dude, Justin's a dude, heck, even Zero is a dude. People who make her happy are dudes, people who make her angry are dudes, most people for whatever reason are some kind of dude.
What happened to "dudette" - hmm, is that not a word anymore? Maybe it never was, but I do think I used that word before.
So, after hearing this word many many times a day, how could I not pick up on this. Last night, when driving, there was this annoying driver in front of me.
Me - "Dude, you are really ticking me off."
Chantel quickly exclaimed - "Mom, you can't use that word!"
My reply, "Why not?"
Chantel - "You're too old."
Me - "I'm too old." What the heck is that? If I remember correctly, "dude" was a word from my younger years.
She quickly replied - "Mom, it just doesn't sound right."
The conversation was left at that, but it has sparked my curiosity. Hence, I looked it up in the dictionary and the urban dictionary.
I have come to the conclusion, that although dude may or may not have the definition as to how I used it in my younger years - guess what, it's very flattering that this younger generation has not only brought back our style of clothes from way back then - they are now bringing back our vocabulary. Yes, I feel flattered.............
Duuuude.
My last search on the good old internet was to find an image of a dude. I must say this one made me smile - a "Stick Dude."

With that, it's time for me to get in a little tv before it's time for bed. 'Night Dudes! :)

A good day!

Got a lot more accomplished at work today. Thanks Paul, thanks Donna, we are on a roll now and things are looking up - I feel much better.

So tonight was the only free night we had to make a quick trip to get some school clothes shopping done for Chantel.. We met Justin for a quick supper, then Chantel and I went on our way. I thought it would take forever, but in a miracle - one half hour - she was done at Warehouse One, and another miracle - fifteen minutes - she was done at Payless shoes. We're home, she's put on her little fashion show, and I can still catch some of Big Brother and then the Iron Chef.

And *grin* - I told you that she would love your shoes Nicole - guess what she picked up?

She was so excited when she found them, and there was a sale - buy one, get one half price. Can't pass up on a sale right? These are now also a part of her new wardrobe.

Oh, and I forgot to mention, while Chantel and I were shopping, Paul was off on his own. He had made a little trip into EB Games. Guess what game was just released?

He has been waiting for this. I'm kind of excited too, it just might help my golf game. Ahhhh, I can hardly believe I said that, lol.

A better day today, a good day, yes........all is good.

Peaceful

After a long day, I needed to clear my head and think of something peaceful. Sometimes you wake up and have big plans for the day, and well, you know, it just doesn't turn out as good as you thought it would. No tragedies or anything, but I don't like planning things and not getting them all done.
Paul is home now, and I'm going to ask him to help me at work for a few of the days he is off. This will speed things up, and we always have a lot of fun working together.
I do believe though, that right now, Paul should give me a nice long back rub, what do ya think? Yeppers, I think that is in store. *wink*

Time to relax and unwind!

Chelsea's blog challenge this week!

I go for a walk and listen to my Ipod, or I take Zero for a walk.

Turn on the tunes, and off to the kitchen - I love to cook and bake, I do find this very relaxing.

Nothing better than curling up in a nice fuzzy blanket, reading a good book or some scrapping magazines.

Sometimes you just might find me sitting on the old computer and surfing the pages of Ebay.

Grabbing my camera, hopping in the Element, and going on a hunt for some new things to photograph.

A good old bubbly bubble bath is super, and I have been known to take the tiny tv in where the jet tub is, relax, and enjoy.

If Paul is home, I love to curl up with him and watch a good chick flick. If Paul isn't home, I will still curl up (with Zero, lol) and watch a movie.

My new favorite - a cup of fresh ground "Kick Ass" coffee! With a book, magazine, chatting on the phone, or just regular old tv - it works for me.

I love to surprise Chantel and tell her I am done work for the day, to get ready, and just take off - no set destination - although we usually do end up in a store or somewhere for a snack.

Picking up the phone to tell Justin we are picking him up to take him out for supper.

And, I wouldn't forget Paul, sometimes when Chantel is busy and I'm here alone on the weekend, I'll pack us up supper, and just head off to his workplace to surprise him.

Chatting with the gals here is one of my favorite things to do.

New for me - golfing! If Paul is home, I will go out for a round of golf with him. Haven't tried this alone or with anyone else, but if my game improves I will.

And, but of course, scrapbooking. *grin*

"Mashy" and friends

My new favorite kitchen gadgets! Saw the "Mashy" at my brother's house, sitting on their window sill - I thought it was just an ornament, and commented on how cute it was. I did not know it was an egg masher - what a super slick idea! I had to have it!
While in Clear Lake, we travelled through many different little towns, and searched out all the Home Hardwares to find one. No luck........but on our last day we went to Dauphin, and Paul spotted a Home Hardware - didn't think we would have any luck - but Aha - Paul came around the corner with "Mashy" in his hands.
I said that I wanted one for his Mom and Dad for Christmas (they love the different little gadgets I send them), so when I went around the corner and saw there was the egg timer and whipper as well. Awesome! My "Egg Gang" would look so cute!
There was a lady there, who told me she loved her "Mashy" and that it was even great for mashing potatoes. She laughed and said it was sad that her life had come to being excited over a little egg masher. LOL - I was just as excited! :)
So, for new kitchen gadgets, I love them, inexpensive ($3.99 each), and they work. I have to agree, little "Mashy" works great for potatoes too!

I caught Paul with another woman!

Paul gets home from work, about 10:30 pm or so, talks to me for a short while, and says he's tired and going to bed. I tell him okay, it will be a little while before I get there, got a few more things to do. Good Night Honey - you know the routine!
But, after about 15 more minutes, I'm exhausted, can't keep my eyes open any longer. Decided it was time to get to hit the hay myself, a little earlier for a change.
So, I am brushing my teeth, and I hear this deep moaning coming from our bedroom. What the heck? Doesn't sound like Paul, so who the heck could it be?
I keep listening, and I can hear it, yes, I am not out of my mind, something is going on in there. Deep moans of ecstasy are coming from the room!
I walk into the bedroom, turn on the light, and what do I find.................................................
Yeppers, my dh is in bed with another woman! And, I got proof! Look at the smug innocent look on her face! Whatever!

*grin* We are babysitting my brother's dog - Annabelle - I call her Annie for short. She was just getting a nice ear rub from Paul! (although he looks rather innocent in this photo) Seems she also decided she was going to overtake my side of the bed, lol.
So, I don't have the heart to make her move.......guess who got the couch tonight? :)

Where are you going?

So many times, I am asked this question.

Who asks it? Well, mostly my kids, sometimes my hubby, and sometimes my friends. Usually I do have a destination in mind, but, on the very odd occasion, no, I do not. After answering this question at least 10,000+ times in my life, I now simply answer -
Straight Up and a Mile East, Wanna Come?

So, we've been on holidays, we didn't go very far, but it was awesome! Taking a holiday was great, refreshing and relaxing. I did learn something though, I will not wait this long to take a holiday again. It was far too long since we had been away together!

It was great to get back to work, and if some of you would disagree - I do have the best job in the world. :) There was a lot more to do than I expected, but I think I am at a place now where I can start next week fresh.

Did the thought of starting a blog ever cross my mind? - Not in the least, but for some reason, typing here, wondering if anyone will read this, if anyone along the way will come across this - intrigues me.

Before I get back to work, I have to look at some photos that I want to scrap! Have plans to scrapbook on the long weekend, really looking forward to that!
Backshots are my favorite and I can't wait to scrap these!
